Preparing For Twins
from: Sue PeelYou need to prepare for twins as if you were in training for a marathon, for this is in fact exactly what it is. I don't mean that you will have to run 26 miles in a few hours, lift weights and wear nipple shields - though thinking about it, you will soon be doing all those things ! But you do have to prepare yourself mentally, psychically and practically. You need to understand what's going to be required of you and know that you can and will cope. You need to be as physically well as it is possible for you to be in order to cope, and the more practical preparation you can make, the easier you will find it to enjoy your babies.
Get people to help you with things. At this stage most people will do anything for you because of your vast pre-delivery size. Usually they will do it quickly too and make a fast get away in case you go into labor on their watch ! Use this. You're going to have to adapt to asking for and accepting help if you're going to do the best for yourself and your twin babies - start practicing now. If you can, get those mucky marks on the walls touched up, get the windows cleaned, de-clutter (all these things will blaze like beacons in your new baby photos).
